Brief Dr. Chen obtained his BEng in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air-conditioning) Engineering and MSc in Thermal Energy Engineering from Tianjin University in 1978 and in 1981, He received his Ph.D degree in Building Engineering from Concordia University in 1997. He joined the Department of Building Services Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1998. His current teaching subjects include HVACR systems design, analysis and applications, BSE research project, and building energy simulation. His current research interests include building thermal modeling and simulation, energy-efficient HVACR Technology, optimal building HVACR system design and operation, and building energy. He has published many papers in the above mentioned areas, and is a reviewer for several international journals, ranging from Solar Energy to Applied Thermal Engineering. He also serves the Hong Kong Research Grant Committee (RGC) as a reviewer of research proposals to RGC. Dr. Chen provides professional consultancy services in the above-mentioned areas.
