Brief Dr. C.M.Mak is the Associate Professor in
the Department of Building Services Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic
University. He graduated from the University of Liverpool with a bachelor
degree in Building Services and Environmental Engineering and a PhD on
building acoustics. He obtained a postgraduate diploma in acoustics and
noise control from the Institute of Acoustics. He later joined the Hong
Kong Polytechnic University. He teaches various subjects in building services
engineering at postgraduate, undergraduate and sub-degree levels and undertakes
research in the fields of building services engineering. He is mainly
responsible for the teaching in the subject areas of electrical engineering/installations,
HVAC, design project and noise and vibration control in buildings. He is
the programme leader of the full-time self-financed bachelor degree
programme in building services engineering. His
research/consultancy interest is in the areas of building acoustics and
applications of Computational Fluid Dynamics to the simulation of airflows
in and around buildings. He is the chairman of the Hong Kong Institute
