Higher Diploma in Building Services Engineering

 

Programme Aims
You gain a sound knowledge of the design, installation and operation of building services systems. You learn how these systems are integrated within the building structure, how they are coordinated during installation, and how they operate effectively.

You also learn to carry out design calculations, undertake appropriate testing and commissioning, and properly maintain and operate systems.

You develop basic supervisory and management skills to work as a subordinate to a professional engineer, or supervisor to technicians, craftsmen and unskilled workers.

Career Prospects

You can expect to work as assistant engineers or engineering technicians under the supervision of registered professional engineers, in consultant or contracting firms, or in government departments You may also work as engineering technicians in the maintenance and operation of building services systems with developers and maintenance contractors. Work as sales engineers for building services equipment and system supplies is also an option. Further study opportunities exist through our BEng(Hons) degree programme.

Professional Recognition

This programme satisfies the academic requirements for Associate Membership of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), UK, and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).
